The wine-growing history of the Zähringer family in Heitersheim began on October 31, 1844. At that time, the white tanner Michael Zähringer bought a property in Heitersheim for his son, the journeyman dyer Josef Zähringer and his brother Wilhelm I. In addition to the dyeing facility, the property also included a wine cellar with a trot. The purchase of the property marked the founding day of a family business, whose wines enjoy high recognition far beyond southern Baden. Zähringer wines can be found all over Germany today, in all areas from private households to top gastronomy.
